ESLITE GALLERY is pleased to present in the second edition of Taipei Dangdai a solo exhibition by LuxuryLogico, the most anticipated artist team that has just recently garnered the Creativity and Innovation Award of the 10th Taiwan Presidential Cultural Awards. Lying at the heart of the Solar System, the Sun is the brightest star in the sky and the most important source of energy for life on Earth. Three new installation works centered around the theme of the Sun will be on view in ESLITE’s booth B23, including stellar works such as Poetry of the Sun, Solar and Eclipse. This marks LuxuryLogico’s first solo collaboration with an art gallery and first presentation in an art fair.

Poetry of the Sun is composed by 13,000 parts made with light-weight aluminum alloy and stainless steel. Empowered by a motor, at its core is a mechanic ring that can create undulating movements to represent the radiating Sun. Looking at the magnificent work, the viewer’s imagination is carried to a meadow where the Sun caresses the verdant green with its gentle rays. The work also resembles a time machine that transports us back to the moment in Genesis when the first ray of light penetrates through obscurity and thus divided time into day and night. Poetry of the Sun was first commissioned by Taiwan Power Company in Taipei for its lobby in 2006. The work shown in the fair is a new and different version.

Solar is an evening sun converted by 240 recycled glass bottles installed on a stainless steel and aluminum alloy structure. The bottles are typical containers found in our daily life. Different in size and shape, some were used to contain medicine or sauce, some were used for food or spice. Enlivened by new LED lights and multimedia interface, these bottles composes an endless stream of luminance that sings the sound of the Sun. In the daytime, Solar is a sculpture in waiting; when darkness falls, it begins to glimmer with continuous energy to light up our heart even in the dimmest hour. Man has endeavored to observe the Sun for more than four thousand years. Solar offers an imaginative way for us to approach the Sun. The work had been shown in Hong Kong Arts Centre, Taipei Fine Arts Museum, Asia Triennial Manchester. This is a new version created specifically for the exhibition in Taipei Dangdai.

Eclipse is an astronomical event that occurs when the Moon passes through the Sun and the Earth. The phenomenon has captured our imagination since the beginning of human civilization. The third work Eclipse is a slice of the dark dimensions where transient sceneries and mindscapes deflect from a sliver of light pending on one’s vantage point.

In the public arear, Wandering—Feather is a futuristic organism set in motion. Made of thin metals in the shape of feather, the work brings to mind mythical beings that roam the sky or marine invertebrates that amble between the rocks in intertidal zones. Things may change, stars may move. In a rapidly evolving world, Wandering—Feather travels in a wandering journey of its own destiny, unperturbed, against the current of the times.

In addition to works by LuxuryLogico, ESLITE GALLERY will also show paintings by Lin Yen Wei in the Salon Sector.
