“Confucius Said—Calligraphy Works of Tong Yang-Tze” will be on view from 17 June to 3 July at Exhibition and Performance Hall, eslite Xin-yi store in Taipei. With 27 calligraphy works TONG Yang-Tze reinterprets the wisdom of Confucius, a Chinese thinker active in the sixth century B.C. and still influential today.
While “LIU Xiaodong in South Africa” just opened at ESLITE GALLERY in this May, the artist is going to have another show at Faurschou Foundation Copenhagen, “LIU Xiaodong: Painting as Shooting” on 26 May, exhibiting his important serial works in this decade. LIU Xiaodong has been to many places around the world for life-drawing projects. His subjects include a family of Chinese descendants in Cuba, the soldiers and people at the borders of Israel and Pakistan, bars and immigrants in London. “Migration” is also an issue of his constant interest. From his Warm Bed series concerning immigrants in China and prostitutes in Thailand to recent works about refugees to Europe, LIU has been addressing the influence of global issues about society, culture, economy, and ecology on the marginalized people.
“LIU Xiaodong in South Africa” will open at ESLITE GALLERY on 14 May, exhibiting the artist’s 50 works on paper and photo drawings. In this project, LIU adopts broader perspective to examine the lives in South Africa, resulting in these life drawings of people, wildlife, and landscapes.

Ho Pong Pong's works on paper are a combination of vintage costume jewelry and surrealist drawings that reveal the artist's fascination of the human body and thoughts on life, relationships, personal development.
